Uniforms & Equipment

TASO Volleyball Uniform Policy

The official uniform of the TASO-Volleyball shall be: 

A. The TASO-Volleyball official uniform shall only be worn to matches assigned by an authorized chapter assigner. 

B. TASO-Volleyball collared short or long-sleeved shirts and sweatshirts/jackets must be purchased from an authorized TASO vendor. 

C. Uniform Tops 

Shirts 

  1. White is the default uniform color. (No chapter will have the authority to mandate its members to purchase any additional colors of shirts or jackets.) 
  2. White, gray, and blue are approved colors for uniform shirts. 
  3. Blue uniform shirts are only approved to be sublimated and must have a pocket. 
  4. Officials’ uniform shirts must match colors. Uniform shirts must be worn tucked into uniform bottoms. 
  5. Line judges' uniform shirts must match colors, but do not have to match the referees. Uniform shirts must be worn tucked into uniform bottoms. 


Jackets/Sweatshirts 

  1. White and gray are approved colors for jackets. 
  2. Sweatshirts are only authorized in white. 
  3. White jackets/sweatshirts may be worn with any color shirt. 
  4. Gray jackets may be worn with gray shirts. 
  5. Jackets must be worn over approved uniform shirts. 
  6. It is not necessary for both officials to wear jackets, but if they are worn, both officials must have matching colors. 
  7. If line judges wear jackets, they must match, but do not have to match the referees. 
  8. If worn, the approved full-zippered jacket must be fully fastened. 


Undershirts 

  1. White undershirts may be worn under any color shirt. 
  2. Gray undershirts may be worn under gray shirts. 
  3. Blue undershirts are not permitted. 
  4. Undershirt sleeves shall not extend below the uniform short sleeve. 
  5. Officials are not required to wear matching undershirts. 


If a host school provides pink shirts for officials during the month of October to support Breast Cancer Awareness, they may be worn for that match. 


Pants, shorts, and skirts 

  1. Jet-black dress slacks shall be worn. 
  2. A plain black belt must be worn with uniform bottoms that have belt loops. 
  3. In consideration of members who do not wear pants due to religious beliefs, a jet-black skirt (length below the knee) may be worn. 
  4. Jet-black dress shorts may be worn in non-air-conditioned gyms only. 
  5. The length of the shorts shall be from mid-thigh to the top of the knee. 
  6. If shorts are worn, black shoes and black socks are required. 
  7. After district play ends, for playoffs, shorts shall not be worn. 
  8. No culottes, capri pants, tights, joggers, or fleece may be worn. 


Shoes, socks, and accessories 

  1. Solid black athletic shoes shall be worn, without any colored logo. Shoelaces must be black. 
  2. Solid black socks shall be visible and without logo. 
  3. A black whistle with a solid black lanyard shall be worn. 
  4. A pink whistle and pink lanyard may be worn; and pink flags may be used during the month of October to support Breast Cancer Awareness. 
  5. Cell phones are not part of the TASO-Volleyball uniform and shall not be carried on the official’s person. 
  6. Smart watches may be used as a timing device only. 
  7. The 50-year service pin and the Texas Way pin, both awarded by TASO-Volleyball, may be worn on the left corner of the polo shirt collar. 
  8. These are the only adornments permitted on the TASO-Volleyball uniform. 


Violations 

  1. Members found in violation of the official uniform policy shall be penalized as follows: 
    1. First offense: Warning 
    2. Second offense: $5 fine 
    3. Third offense: $25 fine 
  2. Chapters shall report all violations of the uniform policy to the TASO Office by emailing volleyball@taso.org. 
  3. For subsequent violations the member will be considered a member not in good standing, and may be referred to as a TASO Policies and Procedures violation
